Remove Audio From a Video
Mute the original sound — export a silent video, or put music under it instead.
Wind noise, a conversation in the background, or a screen recording that picked up a notification: sometimes the picture is fine and the sound has to go.
Muting a clip removes its audio from the export. The file on your disk keeps its sound — the edit only describes what the exported video should contain.

Mute one clip or the whole timeline
Volume and mute are per clip, so a project made of several clips can keep the sound from one and drop it from another — useful when only one recording has the noise problem.

Removing audio versus lowering it
If the original sound is useful but distracting, lowering its volume and fading the ends is often better than removing it. Silence is very noticeable when a video cuts from ambient sound to nothing.
