Most trims are the same job: a few dead seconds at the front where you were still setting up, and a tail where you reached for the stop button. Drop the file in, pull the two handles inward, and export.

Trimming here is non-destructive. The original file on your disk is never modified — the editor stores in and out points and applies them when you export, so you can pull a handle back out if you cut too far.

How to trim video online

    Open your video

    Drag the file onto the page, or use Start editing to pick it.

    Set the in and out points

    Drag the handles at either end of the clip on the timeline. For frame-level work, zoom in or type an exact timecode in the Trim fields.

    Check the cut

    Scrub the playhead over each edit point and watch the preview.

    Export

    Choose MP4 or WebM and download the trimmed video.

Trim to an exact timecode

Dragging is quick but imprecise. The Trim section of the properties panel takes exact values — Start and End as minutes, seconds and milliseconds — with steppers that move a single frame at a time. Hold Shift for a ten-frame jump.

Arrow keys work on the handles too, so you can land on a specific frame without fighting the mouse.

Cut a section out of the middle

Trimming only moves the two ends. To remove something from the middle, split the clip on either side of the part you don't want and delete the piece between them. With ripple mode on, the gap closes automatically.

How do I trim a video online without downloading software?

Open the editor in your browser, add your video, drag the trim handles at either end of the clip and export. Nothing is installed, and no account is needed.

Does trimming re-encode the whole video?

Only when the edit requires it. A straight trim with no other changes can often be copied through without re-encoding, which is much faster and keeps the original quality.

Can I undo a trim?

Yes. Trimming is non-destructive: press Cmd/Ctrl+Z, drag the handle back out, or use Reset trim to restore the full clip.
